Game publisher 2K is warning users not to open any emails or click on any links received from its support page after announcing that it was hacked. The 2K hack is a lot more than a fake email, the official 2K support has been compromised and the hackers have been sending legitimate emails with malicious links in them. As a result, the 2K support website has gone offline.

If anyone has already clicked on any of the malicious links, 2K recommends that they should immediately change their passwords saved in their web browsers, install anti-virus software, turn on multi-factor authentication if possible, and make sure that no email account forwarding settings have been altered.

2K Support’s Response To The Hack

2K Support’s Twitter account has thankfully remained untouched, and it shared the news above. Saying that the company came to know about the hack today and that the hackers had gained access to the platform 2K uses to provide customer support. The hackers then sent emails to certain players containing the link that could compromise the said player’s account.

The publisher also reminded players that it will never ask for their passwords or any other personal information and that it will officially confirm when the emails are safe to use once again.

Of course, 2K games apologized for the whole situation and any inconvenience it may have caused and thanked the player base for their understanding and support.

In terms of cyber attacks, the last few days have been very eventful. Rockstar Games had over 90 videos of the unannounced Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay leaked and even though it has the same parent company as 2K, Take-Two Interactive, nothing so far suggests that these two hacks are related in any way.

The hacks are not limited to the gaming industry. The hackers that targeted Rockstar also hacked Uber, and the company is now working with the FBI regarding the matter.
