One of my favourite Netflix Hindi movies of all time is Queen. The story revolves around a traditional family girl who has never set her foot out of her comfort zone and now decided to tour Europe independently. What forces her to take this step and what happens afterwards is the whole story of the movie.

While Hollywood is full of great con movies, it’s something that Bollywood has never been able to get right, that is until Special 26 hit the theatres. Starring Akshay Kumar, the movie revolves around a con man and his team who pose as CBI and Income Tax officers to rob prominent wealthy businessmen and politicians who are evading tax. If you love con movies and are looking for good Netflix Hindi movies, you will love this one.

Based on the Malayalam super hit movie of the same name, Drishyam is a story about a man who will do anything to save his family. Ajay Devan plays the lead character, and he has killed with his performance in this role. To talk more about this movie will mean that I will have to give key plot points away, and I don’t want to do that. Just know that this is one of the best thriller movies Bollywood has ever produced.

Another great Netflix Hindi movie, Madras Cafe, is an action thriller movie that showcases the journey of an Indian intelligence agent to a war-torn coastal island to break a resolute rebel group and meet a passionate journalist. The movie stars John Abraham, and it is probably his best performance in any movie. Do check this movie out.

A Netflix original Hindi movie, Gurgaon features a superb acting performance from its star cast. Pankaj Tripathi is especially great in this movie. The movie’s plot revolves around kidnapping and is as gripping as a crime thriller can be. The film focuses on human characters and how mean and dark we humans can get. Oh yes, just when you start thinking it’s a movie, remember that it’s loosely based on a true story.

This one is primed for Shahid Kapoor fans! Directed by Sandeep Vanga, the movie is a remake of a Telugu film called “Arjun Reddy” (2017, also made by Sandeep). The story revolves around a surgeon called Kabir Singh (Shahid Kapoor), who becomes self-destructive after his girlfriend Preeti (Kiara Advani) leaves him. I don’t think there are too many Bollywood sports films that are as memorable as Dangal. Mr. perfectionist “Aamir Khan” has excelled in his role as a former wrestler (Mahavir Singh) who pursues the gold medal he never won by training his two strong-willed daughters named Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari. Set in the Indian state of Haryana, the film is loosely based on the Phogat family and its tryst with the coveted medals at the Commonwealth Games. Beyond the story, Pritam’s music and Amitabh Bhattacharya’s lyrics are also worthy of praise.

Guru showcases that Abhishek Bacchan is not as inept an actor as everyone thinks him to be. The movie is loosely based on the life of Dhiru Bhai Ambani — the founder of Reliance. It’s not a biography but takes a lot of inspiration from his life. It showcases the rise of a villager who came to Bombay in 1958 and rose to become the most prominent industry tycoon in the country.

32. Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran (2018)

If you haven’t already guessed it, let me tell you that it’s based on the nuclear bomb test explosions conducted by the Indian Army at Pokhran in 1998 during Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government. In a nutshell, Parmanu is an ode to the incredible bravery of the Indian Army and the resolute scientists.

Article 15 is a gem of a movie. It showcases the cast divide that is still plaguing rural India. Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the movie stars Ayushman Khurrana in the role of an IPS officer. Based on Chetan Bhagat’s most famous novel, Five Point Someone, 3 Idiots is one of the best movies you can watch on Netflix. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the movie explores life in an engineering college. The lead character, Rancho, is an inventive troublemaker who has quirky solutions for every problem. He has cut contact with everyone after college under mysterious circumstances. Raju and Farhaan, his two best friends who he convinced to think differently, try to find him throughout the movie. This movie has it all from drama, suspense, a great story and a lot of humour. Aamir Khan’s performance as a genius college student is breathtaking, and it will surely leave a lasting impact on you.

Produced by the non-governmental charity Smile Foundation, I Am Kalam is an inspiring drama. The story follows Chhotu/Kalam, a bright and happy kid thirsty for knowledge. He learns from every opportunity and, inspired by President Abdul Kalam, wants to become like him. The movie’s cast is new, and the only recognizable face is Gulshan Grover. Still, the movie successfully won critical praise, honour, and various awards in film festivals. It talks about one of the fundamental rights in India, the right to education, without making the story melodramatic. The little actor Harsh Mayar also received recognition for outstanding acting performance.
