As confirmed during the E3 Xbox Showcase: Extended last month, the next-gen enhanced version of A Plague Tale: Innocence is out today. The enhanced version is available for Xbox Series X/S, and there’s also an A Plague Tale: Innocence PS5 upgrade to match.

It is free to all existing owners of the previous-gen version of the game or as a full game standalone purchase for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The update introduces a major visual overhaul to make the most of the powerful hardware housed in Sony and Microsoft’s next-gen consoles. Players can now experience the rodent tsunamis and thrilling brand of stealth of A Plague Tale: Innocence with enhanced graphics, audio optimizations, 60 FPS gameplay, faster load times, and up to 4K UHD resolution.

Developer Asobo Studio, also known for eye candy flight sim Microsoft Flight Simulator, has concocted a new launch trailer showcasing the enhanced graphics in action to mark the occasion.

In addition to the next-gen update, A Plague Tale also launches for the first time on Nintendo Switch today. Suitably dubbed the Cloud Version, it uses cloud streaming tech to allow Switch owners to experience the critically acclaimed game despite the console’s lower-powered specifications.
