Aaron Carter was working on a sitcom called Group about mental health before his death. Now, after a blessing from his representation, the project is moving forward. No date was mentioned on when fans can expect to see his final work before his death. It will be dedicated to him after it wraps post-production and finds a home when it is ready to be shopped to a network or streaming service.
The sitcom would have seen a fictionalized version of Aaron Carter. As he has opened up about mental health, the show would follow people in group therapy. It will star Samm Levine (Inglourious Basterds), Olive Chiacchia (The Parody News Network), Ari Stidham (Scorpion), Ashley Brinkman (Welcome to Hope), Kevin Clayette (Neighbors), Abdoulaye NGom (My Name Is Earl), Anne Judson-Yager (Bring It On Again), and Mike Starr (Dumb and Dumber).
The singer died on Saturday, November 5, in his home in Lancaster, CA. No cause of death has been determined. His brother, Nick Carter, blamed drugs and addiction for his death in an Instagram post, although that was not confirmed from the autopsy. He was 34.
Death of Aaron Carter will not stop his sitcom Group from being completed
While the sitcom gets its finishing touches, many are mourning Aaron Carter. His ex-fiancée, Melanie Martin, revealed they were still in love and thought about having more children. She said she was “looking forward” to their marriage and “having more children with him.” Fans, DWTS contestants from his time on the reality series, and Lindsay Lohan are some who have posted their tributes to him.
