ABC’s newest workplace comedy ‘Abbott Elementary’ has now become the most tweeted TV Comedy of this year to date! ‘Abbott Elementary’ has so far gained more than 1.5 million Twitter posts in just 2022 alone! Written by and starring Quinta Brunson, the ‘Abbott Elementary’ sitcom is still in its first season and is already proving to be the next ‘it’ show.

‘Abbott Elementary’s pilot premiered only just a few months ago on ABC. The cast of ‘Abbott Elementary’ includes Quinta Brunson as hardworking second-grade teacher Janine, Janelle James as fan-favorite villain principal, and Tyler James Williams as the sub with a crush on Janine. ‘Abbott Elementary’ cast also stars actors Lisa Ann Walter, Chris Perfetti, and Sheryl Lee Ralph. The pilot’s description sets up the series tone as,

Since the show’s premiere on December 7th, 2021, Quinta Brunson has blown up Twitter along with the growing fandom. Over this time, Brunson’s Twitter has gained 95,000 followers, and she’s had over 350,000 tweets posted about her. Many fans have tweeted that ‘Abbott Elementary’ is refreshing. ‘Abbott Elementary’ draws in a crowd of usual non-sitcom watchers and is something we can see binging nine seasons of ten years from now. The workplace mockumentary type of shows caught fire in the early 2000s with Steve Carrell’s The Office, then again with Amy Poehler’s Parks and Recreation. Other shows similarly followed this concept, like 30 R0ck and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but Office and Parks and Rec proved to do it best. Now, as these shows have gained even more fans after landing on streaming services, people can’t get enough of this particular type of comedy. You know the formula of workplace comedies works right when; it gives you second-hand embarrassment, it keeps it real without trying too hard to be funny, and lastly, it makes you feel at home and like your part of the family. It’s believed that ‘Abbott Elementary’ has struck gold and finally done that but in a way that none of its predecessors could do before. One fan even tweeted that the show is “a straight-up successor of The Office” and is a show with the actual quality we’ve all been waiting for a long time to see.
