The December issue of Shogakukan’s Monthly Coro Coro Comics announced that the Ace Angler: Fishing Spirits game will get a manga. Serialization of the manga will start in the magazine’s January 2023 issue. It will start shipping on December 15th.

Manga author Shintaro Mugiwara had previously published a special two-part manga for the game. The chapters were in the magazine’s November and December issues.

The Ace Angler: Fishing Spirits game is the sequel to the Ace Angler game that Bandai Namco Entertainment released in 2019. The sequel game launched in Japan on October 27th and then launched for Nintendo Switch on October 28th. Fishing Spirits has a classic arcade mode experience, a story mode, online multiplayer, and party games that can be played multiplayer.

“Ace Angler: Fishing Spirits”: Fishing for the Top Spot

Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. currently describes the game:

Ace Angler: Fishing Spirits introduces players to Marine Medal Mania, an aquarium-themed amusement park. From there, they can explore and experience exciting games among five distinct attractions. In the main Ace Angler+ mode, anglers compete to catch fish and earn medals they can use to spin for prizes. Players can also collect from more than 250 different types of fish to store in their personal aquariums.

In addition to the arcade-style Fishing Medal game, the game also challenges players to follow quests to learn the world’s oceans for a sustainable future in story mode.

The game itself has had multiple glowing reviews for its art style, fun gameplay, and simple story. Many have emphasized that the game is nothing like Animal Crossing, despite the similar art styles.

Currently, the game is available on Nintendo Switch. It is only currently available for digital download. There is no indication of a storyline for the Ace Angler manga. Also, there is no confirmation of an English release for the manga.
