The most popular game in the industry today doles out its downloadable content in a timed exclusive arrangement with Microsoft’s Xbox 360. The Call of Duty franchise has seen content arrive first on the Xbox 360 for years now, and sees no change in this philosophy going forward.
“The performance of Call of Duty online continues to be stellar,” says Thomas Tippl COO of Activision Blizzard. With things going so well, the company “does not anticipate” changes to Activision’s policy of releasing Call of Duty DLC on Xbox Live before other consoles and PC.
Does that mean Activision and Microsoft will extend their exclusivity agreement in the near future? It’s set to expire in 2012. As it stands, all Call of Duty content heads to Xbox 360 users before PlayStation 3 and PC users. That includes premium elite subscribers on other platforms.
