We’re used to seeing movie star Danny Trejo murder countless people in films such as Machete Kills, it turns out that Machete also saves, or at least Danny Trejo does.

As first reported by ABC7, and later EW, Trejo was one of the first on the scene when a collision between two cars left one on its roof with a small child trapped inside.

The star crawled into the wreckage from one side to try and free the baby, however, he couldn’t manage to undo the straps from his angle. This task fell to a young lady who managed to do so from the other side allowing Trejo to pull the baby from the car. The headline is dedicated to Trejo, but she deserves just as much credit.

Trejo then stayed with the baby and tried to distract him whilst his Grandmother was rescued from the vehicle. Three people were then taken to hospital, but thankfully there were no life-threatening injuries sustained by anyone involved.

Early indications were that one car ran a red light causing the collision and Trejo had this to say:

It really does go to show what a good job car seats manage to do in protecting our young ones and it goes some way to restoring your faith in humanity when you see a 75-year-old movie star and a young bystander working together to help rescue a child from an overturned vehicle.

Fans of Trejo’s movie work will be pleased to hear his next movie releases this month. They might not be as pleased to hear that he stars as Boots the Monkey in the Dora the Explorer movie. It’s a bit of a departure from his usual roles but he has been known to branch out, he’s been in a lot of films after all.
