The news recently broke that Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland had been charged with domestic abuse from an event stemming from a couple of years ago. Now, it is being reported that Adult Swim has cut ties with the Rick and Morty co-creator. In addition, Justin Roiland does voice work on the show, which means those roles will get new voice actors. In fact, he voiced both main characters.

Moving forward, fellow creator Dan Harmon will be the only showrunner. However, Justin will continue to get creator credits on the show.

The reports surfaced on January 12th that Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland had been charged with one count of domestic battery with corporal injury and one count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud, or deceit. The alleged incident happened in 2020 with an unnamed woman Justin was dating at the time. At the time, he pleaded not guilty and gained release with a $50,000 bond. Since then, there have been multiple pre-trial hearings, and he is scheduled for court on April 27th.

Justin’s lawyer, T. Edward Welbourn, called the media coverage of the case “inaccurate” and had this to say:

‘Rick And Morty’ On Adult Swim Is A Mega Hit

Rick and Morty has been running since 2013 on Adult Swim. The show is a mega-hit, and many consider it one of the best modern representations of more adult-themed animated humor. The show has won two Emmy awards for Outstanding Animated Series. Currently, the show will continue through season 10. The sixth season finished airing late last year.

Do you think Rick and Morty will still be successful with Adult Swim cutting ties with the co-creator?
