A new report from FandomWire states that a live-action Ahsoka Tano series is in development for the Disney+ streaming service.

(The following could contain spoilers for Star Wars: Rebels)

The series is said to be headed up by Dave Filoni and set after the events of Star Wars: Rebels. The Ahsoka Tano series will feature Star Wars: Rebels characters Bo-Katan Kryze, Sabine Wren, Zeb Orrelios, Hera Syndulla, and Chopper as they search for the missing Ezra Bridger. This series could also feature the live-action debut of Grand Admiral Thrawn, who was a fan-favorite villain in Rebels.

Insider Daniel Richtman, otherwise known as DanielRPK on Twitter, has heard similar things. On his Patreon (via CBR), Richtman said that some sort of Ahsoka Tano TV project is in development at Disney+.

But, as always, news like this should be taken with a grain of salt until we get anything official.

Is The Mandalorian Season 2 Setting Up A New Playground For The Star Wars Franchise?

If these spin-off rumors and recent casting reports are anything to go by, you can make a case that The Mandalorian is becoming the new backbone of the Star Wars franchise. A place where characters can be introduced, or re-introduced, only to spin-off onto their own thing at a later date. For proof, look no further than all of the huge casting news we’ve received over the past few months.

Back in April, it was reported that Rosario Dawson would play Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian season 2. While Dawson couldn’t confirm these reports, she did tell Variety:

So, it seems that it’s not a matter of if but when Dawson officially gets the role. But it doesn’t stop there. We’ve had a plethora of casting reports regarding The Mandalorian season 2 including Boba Fett’s potential return to the Star Wars universe and Katee Sackhoff possibly playing Bo-Katan Kryze, a character she voiced in The Clone Wars. On top of that, Timothy Olyphant is apparently joining The Mandalorian season 2 in an unknown role.
