Apple has finally unveiled the much-awaited AirPods 3 at Unleashed, the company’s special event held October 18. The third-generation wireless earphones look every bit like their rumored leaks. AirPods 3 features a new design akin to the AirPods Pro; however, it does not make use of silicone tips, which was expected as the device does not feature noise cancellation.

This time, AirPods 3 is fashioned with a universal fit and also allows Spatial Audio support due to the addition of new sensors that detect the user’s head movements. The form factor of the new AirPods features a shorter stem, an in-ear design, and a new battery case.

As we said earlier, AirPods 3 does not feature Active Noise Cancellation or Transparency Mode—features only found on the AirPods Pro and AirPods Max.

The battery life on the AirPods 3 moves up to 6 hours, with the charging case holding 30 hours more juice. Like the other devices, 5 minutes of charge time in the case will give the AirPods 3 enough power for an hour of use.

Also, AirPods now supports MagSafe. The new AirPods cost $179 and will be available for pre-order today. They will be available in stores on October 26.

Apple’s October 18 Unleashed event is currently ongoing, and the Cupertino-based company has already made some exciting announcements. Some of the announcements that have been made (apart from the Airpods 3) in the Unleashed event are:

  • A new “Voice Plan” for Apple Music priced at $4.99 per month that lets you access Apple Music exclusively through Siri.

  • HomePod mini, which is now available in a slew of new colors for the first time.

  • The MacBook Pro and macOS Monterey. The new Macs feature the M1 Pro and the M1 Max for the smaller 14″ and larger 16″ laptops, respectively. As expected, no TouchBar, new SD card slot, HDMI ports. The 16-inch MacBook Pro features support for 21 hours of video playback, 10 more hours than before. 14-inch MacBook Pro features support for 17 hours of video playback, 7 more hours than before.

Expect our recap after the event.
