As many fans of the Today Show know, famed weatherman Al Roker has been absent for two months. His absence has been due to health issues, specifically blood clots in his lungs and leg. However, his fellow Today Show hosts announced this morning that Al Roker is returning to the Today Show on NBC this Friday, January 6th. This will be his very first in-studio appearance on the Today Show since he went to the hospital due to the blood clots.

His fellow co-hosts, Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, and Craig Melvin, made this announcement on the Today Show on NBC just this morning. In the announcement clip, all three hosts expressed deep appreciation for Al Roker and even called him their ‘sunshine.’ They even showed a previous video of the Today Show hosts and others surprising Al at what we assume to be his home and singing to him.

You can watch the Today Show co-hosts announce Al Roker’s return below. Al has been a staple on the Today Show since 1996, when he became the show’s weather anchor. Since then, Al Roker has become more than a weatherman. He is a significant piece of pop culture. Al is 68 years old.
