Despite losing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on set, Alec Baldwin’s Rust filming will carry on with production. The actor who has been accused of killing the deceased has vowed to fight the charge. While working on Alec Baldwin’s Rust film at a ranch on the outskirts of Santa Fe, in New Mexico, the actor mishandled a weapon and ended up shooting Halyna Hutchins.
Sadly Hutchins died from the injury sustained, while director Joel Souza was left injured. This initiated an instant investigation. Since the incident in 2021, Baldwin has claimed innocence and shared some of the details in interviews. But there has been a new development.
Mary Carmack-Altwies, a Santa Fe district attorney, released a statement explaining that Baldwin and Hannah Gutierrez Reed, who supervised weapons while filming, will face manslaughter charges. Andrea Reeb, a special prosecutor on the case, blamed the parties involved, adding that they failed to do their jobs. But Baldwin’s lawyer has called the charges “a terrible miscarriage of justice.”
Though Reed and the actor have vowed to challenge the charges that could lead to a five-year sentence, David Halls, who gave Baldwin the firearm, agreed to a plea deal. Despite the unsettling moment, Alec Baldwin’s Rust film could resume production. A close source shared that they are gathering momentum.

Alec Baldwin’s ‘Rust’ Filming Could Go On
According to the insider, there are ongoing plans to restore production, with Baldwin assuming his role as a lead character and Souza continuing to give guidance through directing.
This time, they would be more conscious of safety and would work with insets safety supervisors and union crew members. Crew members reported that prior to Hutchins’ death, there were two different cases of accidental discharges. However, some cast members countered allegations that the set was hazardous.
The cast and crew members took a sudden break after Matthew Hutchins, husband of the deceased, took up legal action with the production company.
