Getting a better helmet than the one you spawn in with has never been more rewarding in Apex Legends than it is now. It’s the perfect storm of headshot multipliers on some of the deadliest weapons, including the Kraber, being reduced, and Helmets getting a major buff at all of the tiers above the basic White Common Level 1 Helmet. Let’s take a look.

- [Buff ↑] Headshot damage reduction for Level 2 Rare Blue Helmets now 50% (formerly 40%)[Buff ↑] Headshot damage reduction for Level 3 Epic Purple Helmets now 65% (formerly 50%)[Buff ↑] Headshot damage reduction for Level 4 Legendary Gold Helmets now 65% (formerly 50%)
It is also important to note that having good Helmet protection on Fortified characters matters a lot more now that Fortified no longer helps against headshots. These helmets are now truly life or death gear, especially in Ranked Leagues. Be sure to loot or craft one as early in the game as you can.
