If Crusader Kings II was anything to go by, people will no doubt love to cheat in Crusader Kings 3. The game has a non-ironman cheat menu available that players can get stuck into if they so wish to. Here’s how to access it.

How to enable commands

To begin inputting in console commands and cheats into your game, you must launch the game in debug mode. Steam players can activate this by right-clicking Crusader Kings 3 in your Steam library, heading to properties, selecting the General tab, and then clicking the Launch Options button. When that window pops up, type in -debug_mode.

Windows 10 versions of Crusader Kings 3 can create a notepad document and save the following line as a batch file (.bat). This file opens the Windows 10 version of Crusader Kings 3 in debug mode.

  • start shell:AppsFolder\ParadoxInteractive.ProjectTitus_zfnrdv2de78ny!App -debug_mode

When your version of Crusader Kings 3 is in debug mode, you can open up the console. Do this by pressing the tilde key (`) or by pressing Shift-Alt-C. This will open a command line on the screen. You can close the command line by repeating those key combinations.

How to use commands

To enter commands for your own character simply type in the command, followed by the ID that you want to apply to your character. The game will automatically assume the command is applying to your character if no other character is selected.

To apply traits and commands to other characters, you need to find the character ID. To do this, simply hover over the character portrait of someone to get their ID. Then you can input the command, the character number, and the desired outcome for commands to work on other characters.

It is also worth mentioning that making a value a minus will lower the value of the command. On certain command lines, players can press tab to get a selection of options. This feature normally works when selecting relationship IDs, religious IDs, culture IDs, and the like.
