Omari Hardwick, the star of Netflix’s Army of the Dead, has recently signed a new deal with UTA, or United Talent Agency. Hardwick, who has also served as an actor, writer, and producer for other Netflix shows as well as some of his own up-and-coming works, joins actors such as Shelia Atim and TV agent Joe LaBracio at the talent agency.

Omari Hardwick is possibly best known for his role as Vanderhoe in Army of the Dead (2021), a Zack Snyder apocalypse film that follows a group of mercenaries – played by Scott Bautista, Ella Purnell, Ana de la Reguera, and Theo Rossi, among others – as they attempt to break into a government-mandated quarantine zone six years after a zombie apocalypse takes over the planet. In September of 2020, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Synder reportedly had a prequel and an animated spinoff series of the film in the works, but it is unclear if Hardwick will reprise his role for either of those.

In terms of other Netflix shows, Omari Hardwick’s most recent role was as Gordon Oliver in the 2022 thriller series Pieces of Her. The series follows 30-year-old Andy Oliver (Bella Heathcote) as she attempts to unravel the dark and secretive past of her mother Laura (Toni Collette). Hardwick stars in the series as Gordon Oliver, Laura’s ex-husband and Andy’s stepfather who is reluctantly roped into helping the mother-daughter duo escape mysterious figures from Laura’s past.

Aside from television and film work, Hardwick also boasts several original projects, including a one-man stage show titled HerO: A Work in Progress, an album of poetry titled 2,540 Daze, and a hip-hop based podcast called Poetics.

Omari Hardwick’s Agreement with UTA

The details of Hardwick’s new agreement with the United Talent Agency are being kept under wraps for the time being, but Deadline has confirmed that the talent agency has “inked [Hardwick] in all areas”. First founded in 1991, UTA is a long-standing organization in Hollywood, having repped talent that ranges from news anchors like Anderson Cooper to YouTube personality Shane Dawson and popular bands like Muse and Paramore, among many others.

Since its founding, UTA has gone through a varied collection of corporate merges and expansions, with nine current locations from Atlanta to LA and even London. With the agency’s coverage including everything from fine arts to e-sports, it’s somewhat unclear what Omari Hardwick will be producing under his new agreement with UTA, especially since his upcoming projects include an original music album, an Army of the Dead spinoff, and several more Netflix series, according to Deadline. The effect Hardwick’s new agreement will have on his upcoming projects, both original and otherwise, remains to be seen.
