Looking back on his time on The Bachelor, Clayton Echard is not happy with his behavior during his season, which aired earlier this year. The star reflected on how he acted in an interview with The Virginian Pilot.

During season 26 of The Bachelor, Clayton Echard chose Susie Evans to be honored with the final rose. He sent her home when she discovered his relationship with Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia. Windey and Recchia are currently the stars of the latest season of The Bachelorette.

Bachelor Star Clayton Echard was Disappointed by the Way He Behaved in the Series

The star was criticized for handling his love triangle with Windey, Recchia, and Evans. Most notably, he became unfavorable to fans as he told the three women he loved them. It resulted in thousands of messages giving him grief for his actions on the show.

Between Bachelor star Clayton Echard and his contestant Evans, the two made up. In the reunion episode, he said that the two buried the hatchet, leading to the two dating and living together. Now in a relationship and his experience on the reality dating series, he said he would “never, ever do [the show] again” and that he is “not trying to be The Bachelor at this point.”

After a brief NFL career and going to reality TV, he is moving forward now as he has become a mental health advocate. He has since opened up about his struggles with anxiety, depression, and body dysmorphia. While on his journey to improve his mental health, he is currently writing a book for middle and high school students who are dealing with similar mental health struggles.

Windey and Recchia can now be seen on The Bachelorette, which premiered yesterday (July 11). New episodes air on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
