Not only is Luca Guadagnino, the director of Call Me By Your Name, open to a sequel, but he wants to make it happen. Only Guadagnino wouldn’t call it a sequel, but “the chronicles of Elio.” Luca Guadagnino has called sequels an American concept. He’d want to show Elio (played by Timothée Chalamet) becoming a man. The 2017 film Call Me By Your Name followed the Italian teen through his romance with Oliver (played by Armie Hammer) in the 1980s. The film received critical acclaim and won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay by James Ivory. It received a total of four Oscar nominations. It helped launch Timothée Chalamet into stardom. Hammer received praise for his performance, but due to his cannibal controversies, his acting is not what has been making headlines lately. The director of Call Me By Your Name has already taken steps towards making a sequel.

Timothée Chalamet is a Big Ticket Item in Hollywood

He played in the films Lady Bird, Dune, and Don’t Look Up. Timothée Chalamet is at the beginning of his career, but he has already gotten critical acclaim and a solid fanbase. Luca Guadagnino and Timothée Chalamet have been promoting their collaboration for the film Bones and All at the Venice Film Festival. Obviously, the director of Call Me By Your Name has Chalamet’s number. Bones and All shows that Timothée Chalamet could be open to working with Luca Guadagnino again. The bad publicity surrounding Armie Hammer could hamper Guadagnino’s efforts. It’s possible that Chalamet could want to continue Elio’s story with the Call Me By Your Name sequel, with Guadagnino as the director. So far, there has been no word on Chalamet’s thoughts and feelings regarding a sequel. It’s just known Guadagnino’s strong feelings regarding the matter. There is at least hope that Elio’s story isn’t quite done.
