Currently working on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Infinity Ward is turning away from the shooter franchise and developing an AAA open-world RPG. This rumor has surfaced in job postings where Infinity Ward Poland studio is seeking a narrative director for their new “open-world RPG.”

Infinity Ward Is Hiring For AAA Open-World RPG

A new AAA title that will impact the gaming world will come from Infinity Ward, but surprisingly it will not be Call of Duty. It looks like Infinity Ward Poland wants to make a radical change after twenty years of experience and 11 CoD games so that we may see Infinity Ward with an RPG title soon.

We deduce this from the job advertisement, where the studio is looking for a person responsible for the story and narration. The job posting addresses an unannounced AAA open-world RPG game without specifying any affiliation with Call of Duty.

The vacancy has swiftly been filled, but many screenshots of the job posting were shared on social media.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience working on non-linear narratives in open-world games and directing cinematic sequences in AAA-quality titles.”

Since Activision will soon be part of Microsoft, it is conceivable that this new open-world RPG will not appear for PlayStation. So far, Microsoft has only promised that the existing Call of Duty exclusive agreement will be respected.

Also, Microsoft has repeatedly emphasized that it has no intention of splitting the player community among the platforms. Nevertheless, some projects are already being kept away from PlayStation, including Bethesda’s upcoming Starfield.
