Priyanka, a celebrated drag queen and Canada’s Drag Race winner has announced that she will officially be making her acting debut in Ezra, a new LGBTQ+ comedy series coming to OUTtv. Priyanka will be joining previously cast Luke Hutchie, Chelsea Clark, Matthew Finlan, Zoe De Grand Maison, and Veronika Slowikowska.

Ezra, a ten-episode limited series, will follow the adventures of a gay vampire (Luke Hutchie) who, after escaping the “dark and demonic chains” of his old home, decides to take a leap into the modern world – predictably, hilarity will ensue. According to Deadline, Priyanka will reportedly play a version of herself, set to appear in the series’ tenth episode. Ezra will be the latest in a recent trend of vampire-based comedy, along with popular sitcoms and comedies like Hulu’s What We Do in the Shadows, where Ezra cast member Veronika Slowikowska plays college student Shanice.

Who is Priyanka?

Born as Mark “Suki” Suknanan in 1991, Priyanka made a name for herself as a host for the Canadian children’s network YTV before becoming the first-ever winner of Canada’s Drag Race, a Canadian spin-off of Ru Paul’s Drag Race that premiered in 2020. According to Priyanka’s own website, she recently made her musical debut with her EP Taste Test, including the hit single Come Through, in 2021.

Ezra will be released on October 1st, 2022, on OUTtv, a Canadian channel specializing in LGBTQ+ content since 2001 as PrideVision TV, but was split and relaunched as OUTtv in 2005. Some of OUTtv’s most popular programs include Ru Paul’s Drag Race (2009), Schitt’s Creek (2015), GoGo For the Gold (2022), and Two Brothers (2022), as well as social documentaries like Being BeBe (2021) and The Fruit Machine (2021).

Ezra, starring Priyanka, will be produced by Luke Hutchie, Chelsea Clark, Jesse Forsey, and Mike Cooke, and it will be available on OUTtv and streaming on Apple TV and the Roku Channel. Further information on the plot or cast of Ezra has not yet been released.
