After only being a few months out from its release date, Creed 3 was delayed to March 3, 2023. It was initially slated to knock out audiences on November 23. MGM gave no reason it postponed the Michael B. Jordan boxing film, which would see him direct this third entry.

The old date would have seen Creed 3 go into the ring with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (November 11), The Fabelmans (November 23), Strange World (November 23), and Disenchanted (November 24). Now it will be competing with Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (March 3), Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (March 17), and John Wick 4 (March 24).

Creed 3 release date delayed to March 2023

Creed 3 will see the return of Jordan in the titular role while having to direct and produce duties. He will star with Tessa Thompson (Thor: Love and Thunder), Jonathan Majors (Da 5 Bloods), and Phylicia Rashad (Soul). It will make for a big year for Majors as he will reprise his role as Kang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, where he will cement his character as the next big bad of the MCU that will eventually lead to the 2025 movies Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars.

The film will be co-written by Zach Baylin (King Richard) and Keenan and Ryan Coogler (Black Panther). Ryan Coogler will produce with William Chartoff, Jonathan Glickman, Nicholas Stern, Charles Winkler, David Winkler, and Irwin Winkler. Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian, and Adam Rosenberg will serve as executive producers. Although the release date of Creed 3 was delayed, Ryan Coogler will still have a big year with Wakanda Forever.

Creed 3 will be the first Rocky/Creed film that will not have Sylvester Stallone attached. The actor called out producer Irwin Winkler over the rights to the Rocky franchise. He holds none of the rights despite starring, writing, and directing installments of Rocky. He blasted the producer on social media as he wanted something to leave for his children, a part of the franchise that launched him into stardom.

After Creed 3, a spinoff will be in the works based on Dolph Lungren’s Drago.
