For Larry David, Curb Your Enthusiasm has been on the chopping block for years. The last few seasons have been the finale until he decides to have another go with his HBO sitcom. Executive producer and friend of the creator, Jeff Schaffer revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that they shot the leading man’s death for a definitive finale, then held it back to do more of the show.
“Sometimes we don’t know where we are going, but this season when we started with Larry finding the dead guy in the pool, right away I knew that we were going to end it with Larry falling into a pool because there was no fence,” Schaffer said.
They shot the scene with the intention of it being the death of Larry David in Curb Your Enthusiasm. If you are familiar with this fictionalized version of the Seinfeld creator, it would have been a fitting end for him. But the decision came down from the man himself as he said that he was “not ready to die.” So, the scene was scrapped.

Larry David takes Curb Your Enthusiasm with an easy pace as the last few seasons have made major gaps between them. Six years was between seasons 8 and 9, and three years before seasons 9 and 10. With season 11 being a huge success with Emmy nominations under its belt, season 12 is on its way.
Schaffer had not much to offer for the next season. What’s next for Larry in Curb Your Enthusiasm will be a continuation of the show within the show Young Larry. He confirmed they will not keep shooting possible series finales with each season. It sounds when the end is time, they will decide on when that time should be and how they will go about it. Maybe this drowning hints at how it will conclude whenever that happens.
