The cast of the Gran Turismo movie are in their vehicles as the film has been filming for a few weeks. Sony and PlayStation Productions have announced six names to add to its roster for a finalized main cast based on the popular racing video game. The additions include Max Mundt (How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast)), Mariano González (Once), Harki Bhambra (This Is Going to Hurt), Lindsay Pattison (A Christmas Letter), Théo Christine (War of the Worlds), and Nikhil Parmar (Foundation).

Unlike most video game adaptions in recent years, like Uncharted, this one is based on a true story. The Gran Turismo movie will follow the story of player Jann Mardenborough (Archie Madekwe) winning Nissan competitions and becoming a successful race car driver. In the film, a professional (David Harbour) will take him under his wing to learn to be a real race car driver

The rest of the cast has some big stars. The names previously announced consist of Harbour, Orlando Bloom, Djimon Hounsou, Madekwe (Midsommar), Darren Barnet (Never Have I Ever), Emelia Hartford (A Hollywood Christmas), Josha Stradowski (The Wheel of Time), Geri Horner (Rainbow Woman), and Maeve Courtier-Lilley (The Outpost).

Gran Turismo movie revs up after picking up the remaining cast

Known for sci-fi films like District 9, Chappie, and Elysium, Neill Blomkamp is taking a stab at a video game adaptation by directing the Gran Turismo movie. The script was written by Jason Hall (American Sniper) and Zach Baylin (King Richard). The producers will be Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, Doug Belgrad, and Dana Brunetti. Hall and Kazunori Yamauchi are executive producing.

Last month, the Gran Turismo movie started filming. Production started in mid-November for an August 11, 2023, theatrical release. It is in line with projects under PlayStation Productions, which adapted the Naughty Dog game Uncharted to the big screen earlier this year with Tom Holland. Other PlayStation games getting TV or film adaptions include The Last of Us, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, and Horizon.
