Star of the rom-com The Thing About Harry Niko Terho joins Grey’s Anatomy to become a series regular for season 19, Deadline reports. He is the second newcomer to become a regular on the ABC medical drama as Alexis Floyd (Inventing Anna) also joined.
Both newcomers will play first-year surgical residents at Grey Sloan. For Niko Terho in Grey’s Anatomy, he plays Lucas Adams, a black sheep in a family full of medical professionals. He has the charisma and people skills to succeed, but he struggles in school as he lacks putting in the proper work to get the grades he needs. The show will follow his struggle as he tries to improve himself to reach his dream of becoming a surgeon.
Niko Terho to star in Grey’s Anatomy
Starring in Grey’s Anatomy will see Niko Terho will follow in the footsteps of his costar in The Thing About Harry as Jake Borelli plays Dr. Levi Schmitt in the medical drama. In the season 18 finale, Dr. Schmitt and other Grey Sloan residents packed up as the teaching program shut down.
Before signing on for season 19 of Grey’s Anatomy, Niko Terho was recruited to play soccer in England when he was a teenager. When he turned 18, he moved to New York City to study his passion, acting, at William Esper Studio. He came from the ABC Discovers Showcase, which landed him the co-lead role in The Thing About Harry. He also starred in the drama Sno Babies, which starred Michael Lombardi (Rescue Me).
The four-time Emmy-winning medical series was created in 2005 by Shonda Rhimes, who writes and executive produces the series. She executive produces with Mark Gordon and Betsy Beers. The series is led by Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens Jr., Justin Chambers, Kevin McKidd, Jesse Williams, and Patrick Dempsey. Season 19 of the series will return to ABC on Thursday, October 6.
