The comedy-drama series Hacks has been renewed for a third season on HBO Max. The announcement comes two weeks after the bittersweet ending of its second outing on June 2nd.

Behind the Success of Hacks Getting Renewed for Another Season

The series follows Jean Smart as a legendary comedian, Debra Vance. When things shake up in her career, her manager Jimmy, Paul W. Downs, has one of his clients, Ava, played by Hannah Einbinder, be her writer. The series explores their sometimes toxic and sometimes loving mentor-mentee relationship. Now that Hacks was renewed, fans can expect more hilarity and drama between this two with their unconventional relationship. The series also stars Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Jane Adams, Christopher McDonald, Kaitlin Olson, Poppy Liu, Rose Abdoo, Mark Indelicato, Meg Stalter, Angela E. Gibbs, Luenell, Johnny Sibilly, Joe Mande, Ally Maki, and Lorenza Izzo. The second season introduced Laurie Metcalf, Martha Kelly, Ming-Na Wen, Susie Essman, Margaret Cho, and Devon Sawa.

Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello, and Jen Statsky are co-showrunners. Downs, Aniello, Michael Schur, David Miner, and Morgan Sackett act as executive producers.

It is no wonder why HBO Max ordered Hacks to be renewed for a third season. Its first season was a huge critical hit with plenty of accolades as it had 15 Emmy nominations. It won for Smart’s acting, writing, and directing for the episode There Is No Line. The second season has matched this success, so everyone should keep an eye out to see what kind of nominations it might receive.

While time passes for the renewed Hacks to make its next season, it can be watched on HBO Max. It runs for 30-minute episodes with a total of 18 episodes between both of its seasons.
