TV host and star personality Ellen DeGeneres has officially spoken up about the death of Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss after the DJ’s death was announced earlier today by his wife. DeGeneres, who was friends with Stephen after the two worked together on the set of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, is reportedly ‘heartbroken’ by her friend’s death and left a heartfelt goodbye message on the star’s Instagram page earlier today.
The death of Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss, 40, was announced by his wife, Allison Hoker Boss, earlier today. Allison, 34, stated that her husband had committed suicide, and shared a powerful message of grief, stating that “Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.”
“To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt,” she added. “I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honor his memory. We ask for privacy during this difficult time for myself and especially for our three children.”
‘tWitch’ Mourned by Ellen, Questlove, Paula Abdul, and More
Adding onto the procession of well-wishers and grieving loved ones is Ellen DeGeneres, head of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where Stephen was hired as a guest DJ in 2014 and remained until the show’s conclusion in 2022, eventually becoming a co-executive producer of the show, according to PEOPLE Magazine.
Additionally, in an episode during the final season of her talk show in May, Ellen described the impact tWitch had had on her life, calling Boss her “pal” and “sidekick” – “We have this connection, so, just looking over and — he makes me laugh. He really, really makes me laugh…He’s never gonna be out of my life,” she said. “He’s always gonna be a part of my life.”

Ellen DeGeneres is far from the only person to be grieving the loss of Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss, though; Leah Remini, who served as a judge on So You Think You Can Dance alongside Boss, also left the following message:
Fellow dancer Paula Abdul and fellow DJ Questlove also expressed their profound grief at the loss of their friend and coworker, calling tWitch “beacon of light & a true talent whose legacy & impact will live on in the dance community.”
Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss is survived not only by his loving wife Allison and their three children, but also by a lasting legacy in Hollywood, the world of celebrity dance, and through every friend, family member, or coworker whose life he changed by simply existing and leaving a positive impact in his wake.
