One of the highlights that get people talking after an episode of House of the Dragon has been Paddy Considine, and he has seen that appreciation by writing to his fans and cast on Instagram. In a post (seen below), he thanked everyone for supporting him as King Viserys and Sian Brooke for her shortly-lived performance as Queen Aemma Arryn. Spoilers ahead for the series, specifically for episode eight, The Lord of the Tides.

When it came to his co-star, who played his wife, Queen Aemma Arryn, the small role greatly changed his approach to the character. In those “few days” on the set of House of the Dragon together, Paddy Considine said that she “changed the course” of King Viserys. Her performance with him “unlocked the missing piece of the puzzle” for him. As Viserys had more ailments, he did not seek a way to get better. The reason for that was greatly due to this inspiration that when his wife died, he died with her too as he settled in his situation of getting sores and cuts from the throne to his death in The Lord of the Tides.

Paddy Considine thanked his fans and cast for House of the Dragon run

Over the course of his career with Hot Fuzz, The Outsider, and Peaky Blinders, Paddy Considine has found success, but not like his House of the Dragon role. Even George R.R. Martin thinks his portrayal is better than what was written in the books. The actor said he has “never loved a character so much.” He thanked “the creators” for giving him “freedom to make Viserys” his character, something that he can own.
