Another spooky tale is gearing up for next year as Insidious 5 wrapped filming yesterday (August 21). The update on the return of the horror series was confirmed on Twitter by Dagmara Domincyzk, Patrick Wilson’s wife. The actor will return for his fourth time as he starred in the first two films and the fourth installment in 2018.

The tweet from his wife celebrates his return home after “six weeks of (fake) blood, sweat, and tears.” She said how “proud” she felt for her husband taking the reins of the film and how he “killed it, no pun intended.” Now it is time for Insidious 5 to go into the post-production machine to be ready next year for hungry horror fans wanting a supernatural experience with the returning series.

The first Insidious was directed by Saw and The Conjuring creator James Wan with writer Leigh Whannell (Invisible Man). It followed a haunting from spirits that originated from a place known as The Further. The family consisted of Wilson, Rose Byrne (Neighbors), Ty Simpkins (Iron Man 3), and Andrew Astor (Insidious: Chapter 2). The next installment follows the family a decade after the first film’s events and sees Dalton (Simpkins) in college after suffering from his coma and all the trauma from the first two film’s events.

All four of the original actors are returning to Insidious. Wilson takes the wheel with Scott Teems (Halloween Kills) penning the script. Wilson and his family of actors will be joined by newcomers Hiam Abbass (Succession) and Peter Dager (WITS Academy). Starring for their first feature-length and major project of their young careers will be Sinclair Daniel, AJ Dyer, and Victoria Danylko-Petrovskaya.

Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Steven Schneider, and Ryan Turek will executive produce. Jason Blum, Oren Peli, Wan, Whannell, and Howard Young will produce the next Insidious.

Insidious 5 will release on July 7, 2023.
