Netflix renewed and ended Mo for season 2. The comedy will not be dropped without finishing its story, as this decision comes with the purpose of concluding protagonist Mo Najjar’s (Mohammad Amer) journey to seek asylum in Houston.
The Netflix series follows the show’s titled character, Mo, a Palestinian refugee seeking asylum in the U.S. It examines the process for refugees trying to come to the States as the protagonist goes through all the hoops people need to overcome to be accepted into the country.

Amer acts as the leading star and co-creator with Ramy Youssef. Youssef is known for the popular Hulu comedy Ramy. Amer is known for his role in Ramy and, most recently, Black Adam. The co-creators also serve as executive producers and lead writers. Amer stars in this fictionalized version of himself with Teresa Ruiz (Narcos: Mexico), Omar Elba (Limetown), and Farah Bsieso (Daughters of Abdul-Rahman).
Nichole Beattie, Tyson Bidner, Harris Danow, Sophia Lear, Solvan Naim, Ravi Nandan, Luvh Rakhe, Iturri Sosa, and Hallie Sekoff also executive produce. Arturo Guzman, Mary Beth Minthorn, and Charles Rapp produce.
The blend of humor and thoughtfulness lifted the Netflix series Mo to great heights. It received 100% on Rotten Tomatoes from the critic score as people raved about its balance of comedy and moving storytelling. Meanwhile, the audience score was quite high, too, with 88%. The reviews were on top of its accolades, with an AFI award for TV Program of the Year, a nomination for Amer at the Film Independent Spirit Awards, and a win at the Gotham Awards for Breakthrough Series.
Netflix dropped season 1 of Mo last August. No details are known about the final outing’s cast or when we can expect to see it. Until then, you can watch the show on the streamer.
