Obi-Wan Kenobi writer Joby Harold will write the screenplay for the Netflix live-action film adaptation of My Hero Academia. The streaming service landed the project from Legendary Entertainment. Shinsuke Sato will direct and executive produce My Hero Academia based on the script by Joby Harold. It will be adapted from the popular manga that is written and illustrated by written and illustrated by Kohei Horikoshi. There are over 65 million issues in circulation globally. Mary Parent and Alex Garcia under Legendary Entertainment are producing it. The manga follows Izuku Midoriya (also known as Deku) who wasn’t born with a “quirk” so he can’t attend the school of his dreams, U.A. High School. It’s the premiere hero training academy. Despite not having a “quirk” Deku works hard to exceed expectations. Toho Co. Ltd will distribute the Netflix live-action film adaptation in Japan.

‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Isn’t the Only Work from Joby Harold

Joby Harold also co-wrote the Army of the Dead script alongside Zack Snyder and Shay Hatten. He worked on the film Edge of Tomorrow which starred Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise. Harold was an executive producer for John Wick: Chapter 3 and the limited series Underground. He currently runs Safehouse Pictures with his producing partner Tory Tunnell. Joby Harold must now adapt the incredibly popular manga My Hero Academia for Netflix. The director, screenwriter, and producer is no stranger to creating content for well-known franchises. The pressure will be on to see how well he does for the Netflix live-action film adaptation. Since his work on Obi-Wan Kenobi was well-received for the most part, there is hope that he’ll do justice to the manga. Fans definitely don’t want this adaptation to end up like the first Netflix Death Note adaptation.

Joby Harold has a ton of My Hero Academia source material, hopefully, he’ll take full advantage of it. The Netflix live-action film adaptation doesn’t have a release date.
