Anime service Crunchyroll has set a theatrical date for One Piece Film: Red. It will hit Germany and Austria on October 13. Meanwhile, for North America, Canada, and the U.S. on November 4, with a date for Australia and New Zealand on November 3. The platform released a new trailer for the film (seen below).
One Piece Film: Red is the 15th movie for the anime franchise. It was originally released last month on August 6 in Japan. It is the highest-grossing entry yet for the pirate-themed anime. In Japan, it has grossed $92 million. Its France and Hong Kong releases put it at $99 million worldwide, with France grossing $6 million and Hong Kong at $781,000.
Crunchyroll rolls out more One Piece Film: Red theatrical dates worldwide
American audiences can catch One Piece Film: Red slightly early. On October 6, producer Toei Animation and Crunchyroll will have a subtitled and dubbed premiere for the film. The premiere will run alongside New York Comic Con as the convention runs from Thursday, October 6 to Sunday, October 9.
Creator of the series Eiichiro Oda serves as executive producer of One Piece Film: Red. It is directed by Goro Taniguchi (One Piece: Defeat Him! The Pirate Ganzack!) and written by another veteran of the franchise, Tsutomu Kuroiwa (One Piece Film: Gold).
The film will see the biggest singer in the world, Uta, as the performer is known for concealing her identity will reveal herself to the world at a live concert.
Originating with the manga and turned into the popular anime, the series has been going on since 1999, with an episode almost every week since then. Outside of a few breaks in between, the series is heading toward its endgame as the pirates continue their quest to find One Piece. The creator said the ending would happen in five years in 2020, so depending if the production can continue at its pace, it should end in three years.
