Starz has given the revival of the series Party Down the thumbs up; it will feature most of the original cast. Six episodes were ordered for the series’ comeback since Starz canceled Party Down in 2010. Adam Scott, Jane Lynch, Ken Marino, Martin Starr, Ryan Hansen, and Megan Mullally will be returning. Lizzy Caplan is not able to return to the Party Down revival due to scheduling issues with her role in the Hulu limited series Fleishman Is in Trouble. The series followed a group of caterers hoping to hit it big in Hollywood. The series creators John Enbom, Rob Thomas, Dan Etheridge, Adam Scott, and Paul Rudd will be executive producers.
Most of the Original Cast is back Together for the Revival
“We had such a good time that we wanted to find a way to get the team back together again,” explained Thomas when talking about the Party Down revival back in March. The original series ran for two seasons. Starz announced the development of the Party Down revival last March. Jane Lynch left after the first eight episodes of the first season for her role in Glee. Jennifer Coolidge filled the Jane Lynch vacancy for the last two episodes of Season 1. Mullay became a series regular in Season 2. Lynch was able to return for the Season 2 finale. Thankfully most of the original cast of the series can continue where they left off. The Starz app contains Season 1 and Season 2 of Party Down.
The cast has had major successes with their Hollywood careers from Parks and Recreation to Only Murders in the Building. They may play wannabes in the series but they are very much stars in real life. As of now, production is set to start in mid-January of 2022.
