Syfy is making a major move before the second part of season 2 on August 10; the network has made an order for Resident Alien season 3. The renewed series will have its next outing with 12 episodes, making it longer than its two-season run so far, which had ten episodes.

The series is based on the Dark Horse comic by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse and created into the show by Family Guy producer Chris Sheridan. It follows Alan Tudyk as an alien who crash-landed on Earth in a small town in Colorado. He impersonates the town’s doctor Harry Vanderspeigle while he figures out how to execute his mission of wiping out all human life. While establishing himself in the town, he builds conflicting feelings about his mission. Resident Alien season 3 will continue to explore this dilemma and see where he goes next on his quest.

Syfy orders Resident Alien season 3

Resident Alien season 3 will continue to follow Tudyk with the rest of his costars. The series also stars Sara Tomko (Once Upon a Time), Corey Reynolds (The Closer), Alice Wetterlund (Silicon Valley), Levi Fiehler (Mars), Judah Prehn (Kinderwood), Elizabeth Bowen (Sonic the Hedgehog 2), and Meredith Garretson (The Offer). The series is produced by Todd Leykamp, Njeri Brown, and Elias Benavidez. Sheridan executive produces with Robert Duncan McNeill, Mike Richardson, Keith Goldberg, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, Christian Taylor, and Nastaran Dibai.

The network found great success with the sci-fi comedy drama. The first season has a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. Although there is no consensus yet on Rotten Tomatoes, the viewership must have been good enough to move forward with another season.

It is not certain, but it could be possible to see a similar distribution for Resident Alien season 3 as the second season. Being split into two parts has put a break in the series. The second part, consisting of the final two episodes, will premiere on August 10.
