Paramount Pictures has released the teaser trailer for Scream VI, giving us a look as the cast faces a Ghostface with a new mask in New York City (seen below). From the footage, it looks to be around Halloween as most people are seen wearing costumes. Other than that, not much is given away on what to expect for the sixth installment of the slasher comedy series.

The Scream VI teaser trailer gives us time with the last film’s survivors with Melissa Barrera (Sam Carpenter), Jenna Ortega (Tara Carpenter), Mason Gooding (Chad Meeks-Martin), and Jasmin Savoy Brown (Mindy Meeks-Martin). The four of them are riding on a cramped subway with loads of people in costumes, many of which are wearing the iconic costume of the Scream killer. When we get the title card, we see a weathered mask of the killer, which brings a new look to the killer for the first time. Between shots, we are given the tagline, “In a city of millions, no one hears you scream.”

Viewers with a good eye might be able to spot some fun costumes in the look at the upcoming film. For one, we see at the 19-second mark a woman wearing Samara Weaving’s costume from Ready or Not, which Scream 2022 and Scream VI directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett helmed. Weaving reunited with the filmmakers to be a part of the new ensemble for the new entry. It is unclear if the woman seen is Weaving or a fun Easter egg without her.

The new film is a short turnaround, similar to how Scream 2 was released a year after the first. Since Wes Craven died in 2015, the mantel has been taken by Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett. They are joined by writers of the last film and Ready or Not, Guy Busick and James Vanderbilt.

Like any new entry, we have a new cast, although we don’t meet them in the Scream VI teaser trailer. It will star Weaving, Josh Segarra (She-Hulk), Devyn Nekoda (Utopia Falls), Dermot Mulroney, and Tony Revolori (Spider-Man: No Way Home). Veterans Courtney Cox and Scream 4‘s Hayden Panettiere join the cast.

The film releases in theaters on March 10, 2023.
