Apple struck gold with Severance, and for Tramell Tillman, it was a life-changing experience. Between the success of the show and his first San Diego Comic-Con, a lot has happened for the actor this year. In a feature from The Hollywood Reporter, he spoke about how he became recognizable from his role as Milchick.
The Severance character is an employee of the fictional company the show centers on, Lumon Industries. He ensures the ‘innies’ are in check with incentives like dance parties, catering melons, and guiding people to the luxurious waffle dinner people get for their excellent performance. As the pandemic put production on pause, it gave the actor plenty of time to prepare for this measured character who “could be nice, and then he could not be nice,” with the flip of a switch. He would meditate and do small exercises to get himself into the mindset and physicality of the character.
“I wanted to create Milchick as a duck on water if you will: very calm, but there’s always something going on underneath.”

In the interview, the actor did not reveal what’s to come in season 2 of Severance. The slow burn built up to an exciting climax with reveals and major character changes. For what’s to come for Milchick, he was tight-lipped to avoid giving anything away. Maybe fans will get to see what’s underneath that duck in the next outing for the Apple TV sci-fi series.
Severance became an instant hit and is currently nominated for 14 Emmys. Some of the nominations include Outstanding Directing For A Drama Series (Ben Stiller) and acting awards for Adam Scott, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, and Patricia Arquette.
