Zachary Levi‘s father, Pugh, is in the care of his sweet son, the Shazam star, as he rests in his hospital bed. While keeping an eye on the older adult, the actor has kept fans updated. While fans may gush at the handsome movie star, who played a superhero in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Zachary Levi sees himself as a regular guy who has been through troubled waters.

In his publication, Radical Love: Learning to Accept Yourself and Others, he admitted that his childhood trauma stirred by his mother tailed behind him until adulthood. The actor struggled with assuming the lead role at home rather quickly following his father’s absence, but this only made him susceptible to his mother’s claws.

While he learned to forgive his mom, it was difficult to cope with himself. Thankfully, through therapy and fraternizing with a few loved ones, Zachary Levi moved from being suicidal to embracing his uniqueness. Now, he provides a shoulder to lean on, especially for his family. Zachary Levi’s father, Pugh, who is battling thyroid cancer, has had his son next to him all along.

Sittin in my dad’s hospital room with him. He’s not doin so hot right now. The thyroid cancer just won’t quit, and is slowly overtaking his trachea. Doctor’s may have a trick or two still up their sleeves to offer him a bit more time, but Papa D is not long for this world. 🙏 https://t.co/AZcPQdC3he

Zachary Levi Asks For Prayers

Despite Zachary Levi’s father being in a sick bed, the Shazam star actor has engaged with fans on social media. As the new week began, he responded to a fan’s tweet, playfully. After being asked about his dad’s health, he chimed, “He’s not doin so hot right now.” He didn’t stop there, Levi explained how Pugh’s cancer has worsened, corrupting his trachea.

The onscreen superhero shared some hope of how the doctors might extend his time on earth. But he was brutally honest, noting that Pugh might not be around for long. While Levi shares his belief in God and the afterlife, he pleaded with fans to pray for his dad. He said:

A few months ago, Levi updated his Instagram followers on Pugh’s “big surgery” and later shared the happy news of its success. As fans get ready to see Shazam: Fury of the Gods in March, the onscreen superhero has made it a duty to stay in touch, sharing memes and clips.
