Lionsgate has announced today that the hit horror-comedy series Shining Vale will be renewed for season 2 on Starz. The official renewal announcement comes less than a month after season one of the show wrapped on April 17, 2022, along with the news that stars Courtney Cox, Greg Kinnear, and others will be reprising their previous roles on the show.

First debuting on Starz in May 2022, Shining Vale depicts the Phelps family, led by Patricia “Pat” Phelps – played by Courtney Cox (Friends) – as they move from the big city to a small town in Connecticut after Pat is caught cheating on her husband Terry (Greg Kinnear). The Phelps family moves into an old Victorian mansion where everything is not as it seems – doors slam on their own, the piano plays itself, and chilling shadows appear in the windows, including the ghost of an old woman, played by Mira Sorvino (American Crime Story). And on top of that, Pat has to deal with parenting teenagers Gaynor (Gus Birney) and Jake, who aren’t thrilled to be moving and grow more disconnected from their mother by the day.

What We Know About Shining Vale Season 2

Season one of Shining Vale ran for eight episodes, and season 2 will reportedly carry the same amount of episodes, formatted as chapters in the Phelps’ story. Regarding the renewal, Starz executive Kathryn Busby told Deadline, “Shining Vale is both wickedly funny and a beautiful three-dimensional portrayal of marriage, adolescent parenting, and motherhood…We’re thrilled to bring viewers another season of this mic-dropping blend of horror and comedy.”

Shining Vale season 2 will be produced and created by Jeff Astrof (Trial & Error) and Sharon Horgan (Catastrophe) alongside Aaron Kaplan from Kapital Entertainment, Warner Brothers Television, and Lionsgate TV. “Sharon [Horgan] and I are thrilled to be able to tell the next eight chapters of the Phelps’ story — especially after the way we ended Season 1,” Astrof told TVLine. “Personally, I look forward to the crushing pressure of trying to raise the bar even further in Season 2.”

Season one of Shining Vale is currently streaming on Starz, though any more information regarding season two – including further details on the plot, cast, or a premiere date – has yet to be announced.
