We have seen the slow demise of the CW DC universe, and that continues as another series concludes with Stargirl being canceled. The third season will continue its run until it concludes on December 7.

The canceled Stargirl series was created by the comic’s creator John Geoff. The 1999 comic launched his career in the industry, which was inspired by the death of his sister in 1996, who died in a plane crash. It takes a teenage look at being a superhero with Courtney Whitmore as she develops her identity in a world filled with superpowered heroes and villains. Brec Bassinger (47 Meters Down: Uncaged) played the character.

The show’s end comes a month after the acquisition by Nexstar Media Group. We have seen the decision to end other series like The Flash, Nancy Drew, and Riverdale.

CW DC series Stargirl canceled, ending another series on the network

Most of the time, the rug is pulled out under people’s feet. Deadline reports that this is not the case. The canceled Stargirl, like Nancy Drew, was given a notice for the writers to have a chance to write a proper ending rather than an abrupt conclusion or lingering plots to stay open and leave fans unsatisfied.

DC characters are in a foggy home as it is uncertain what the future will look like. Marvel has its established universe, but DC has the Arrowverse, which is winding down as these CW shows end, the DCEU, and a Batman universe from Matt Reeves. As James Gunn and Peter Safran taking the reins of all these iconic and obscure characters could deliver a proper universe for fans of the company’s comics. Safran will handle the business, and Gunn will act like Kevin Feige as he steers the creative direction of the DCEU.

Stargirl stars Bassinger, Luke Wilson (Zombieland: Double Tap), Trae Romano (Robbie), Anjelika Washington (Girls Room), and Amy Smart (Justified).
