The Crow reboot, which stars Bill Skarsgård, has revealed its filming locations, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The cult classic will be the first significant international film to begin production at the newly developed Penzing Studios, a backlot of an old air force base in Penzing, Germany. Other work will be done in Germany as it will complete its digital assets and VFX in Bavaria. Virtual production on the film will be done here, while physical locations will be between Prague and Munich.

Rupert Sanders (Ghost in the Shell) is directing the new take on The Crow. Zach Baylin (King Richard) wrote the film.

Going from Pennywise in the IT movies, Bill Skarsgård goes to The Crow reboot to undergo the transformation of another iconic character, who comes back to life to avenge his and fiancée’s murder. Brandon Lee originally played the role but died from a prop gun accident. Danny Huston (Yellowstone) and FKA Twigs will also star.

The original became a hit, which spawned three more sequels with City of Angels in 1996, Salvation in 2000, and Wicked Prayer in 2005. Since 2005, there have been attempts for The Crow reboot. Stephen Norrington (Blade), F. Javier Gutiérrez (Before the Fall), and Corin Hardy (The Nun) all had a chance to adapt the James O’Barr comic. Initially, Gutiérrez was going to have Chris Evans lead, while Hardy had Jason Momoa attached. It eventually went to Sanders to helm the film.

The backlot that will support the production of The Crow reboot is a part of an effort to turn the airplane hangars into 12 soundstages with 270,000 square feet of space. Its focus is on digital productions but it has physical spaces too. It has several sets, including a fully equipped hospital and a square mile of backlot.
