The show plays with a concept of the same name where someone wakes up between 3 and 4 a.m. and experiences something unexplainable. In The Devil’s Hour, we are introduced to Peter Capaldi as Gideon, the police’s main target. Lucy Chambers, played by Jessica Raine (Becoming Elizabeth), receives cryptic messages from the former Doctor Who actor as he tells her about the connection between memories and dreams. Slowly, as she tries to remember her connection to the case of a string of gruesome murders, the answers and more questions start to flood into her life.
The two leads will be joined by Phil Dunster (Ted Lasso), Nikesh Patel (Starstruck), Ramanique Ahluwalia (Wreck), Meera Syal (The Split), and Alex Ferns (The Batman).
Tom Moran (The Feed) created the series. He will write and executive produce. Johnny Allan (The Irregulars) and Isabelle Sieb (The Athena) will direct. Steven Moffat and Sue Vertue will also executive produce with Moran. Ken Horn produces.
In 2013, the actor stepped into the shoes of The Doctor, leading to a run that ended in 2017. Since then, he has kept himself busy with Christopher Robbin, Watership Down, and James Gunn’s star-studded gory action-comedy, The Suicide Squad. He is filming another British crime thriller with Criminal Record with Cush Jumbo (The Good Fight) and Sia Alipour (Tehran).
