Actor William Reynolds, known for playing Special Agent Tom Colby on The F.B.I., has died at the age of 90. The Hollywood Reporter says that Reynold’s died on August 24 from non-COVID-19 complicated pneumonia in Wildomar, CA. The actor had made guest appearances on The F.B.I. seasons one and two before becoming a series regular in the third season in 1967. He also starred in short-lived shows, including Pete Kelly’s Blues, The Islanders, and The Gallant Man. He also appeared in an acclaimed episode of The Twilight Zone as a WWII officer unable to ignore an ominous light on his doomed men’s faces. The episode was entitled “The Purple Testament.”
‘The F.B.I.’ Actor William Reynolds’ Rise to Fame
Deadline reports that William de Clerq Reynolds was born on December 9, 1931. In 1951, he appeared in three films: Dear Brat, No Questions Asked, and The Desert Fox: The Story of Rommel. Reynolds did military service in Japan during the Korean War before returning to acting in films such as Cult of the Cobra. He also played Laurence Olivier’s son in Carrie and Tony Curtis’ best friend in The Son of Ali Baba.
Reynolds’ good looks and capable acting skills landed him his role on The F.B.I. He stayed with the show for seven seasons until it concluded in 1974. After the show was over, Reynolds decided to quit Hollywood and become a successful businessman. He was married to actress Molly Sinclair for 42 years until she died in 1992. They had two children, two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
