Netflix is pushing a sequel and spin-off for The Gray Man less than two weeks after the action film was released on the platform. Leading star Ryan Gosling will return for the next movie with Joe and Anthony Russo continue to direct. Stephen McFeely (Avengers: Endgame) will write. Deadpool writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese will pen the spin-off.

For The Gray Man sequel, not much is known about what is next for Gosling’s character after duking it out with Chris Evans, which was the film’s main draw. The other film will “explore a different element of The Gray Man universe,” although we don’t know what that element will be since the film was just announced.

The Gray Man sequel at works with Netflix, spin-off is in the works too

The quick decision to put out two movies for what’s being built as a franchise shows the success behind the Russo brothers’ latest project. Despite the viewership to gain a spin-off and sequel for The Gray Man, its reviews have been somewhat mixed. On Rotten Tomatoes, the critic score is a 48%. While people thought the cast was great, other films, in the same vein, execute their premise much better. For audiences, it is a different store. Although the audience submitted reviews are less than the 200 critic reviews, it made for a 91% score.

Joe and Anthony Russo teamed up to direct the film, with Joe writing with co-writers McFeely and Christopher Markus (Avengers: Endgame). They showed once again to like to connect with old colleagues at Marvel with McFeely, Markus, and Evans. With Gosling as the lead and Evans as his antagonist, the rest of the cast showed its stacked talent. Ana de Armas, Billy Bob Thornton, and Jessica Henwick starred. It also featured Dhanush (Raanjhanaa), Alfre Woodard (See), Regé-Jean Page (Bridgerton), and Wagner Moura (Narcos). No other cast members have been confirmed for The Gray Man sequel or spin-off.

While the ball gets rolling on a spin-off and sequel, The Gray Man is streaming now on Netflix.
