For the first time since 2018, whatisthematrix.com is alive. Upon arriving, users will be given the same choice that Thomas Anderson was given back in 1999. Will you take the red pill or the blue pill? The Matrix Resurrections has a full trailer that is set to release on 9/9 at 9 AM EST. Until then, viewers can pick a pill and view several of 180,000 unique possible teaser videos.

Do You Think That’s Hype You’re Feeling?

The Matrix Resurrections is set to release on December 22, 2021. The film is written and directed by Lana Wachowski, sans sister Lily Wachowski.  David Mitchell and Aleksandar Hemon share writing credits with Wachowski. The upcoming sci-fi epic reunites Keanu Reeves and Carrie Anne-Moss. Set to join Neo and Trinity are Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick, and Jonathan Groff. Warner Bros. will be the head production company with Village Roadshow Pictures, NPV Entertainment, and Silver Pictures also producing. This is the first official film in The Matrix series since The Matrix Revolutions was released in 2003.

The concept behind the website is fun. Taking each pill gives a narration befitting of what one would expect if they were actually a character within The Matrix. The red pill supposes that you have rejected the false reality of the machines and have finally woken up. Now begins the fight for real life in the real world. Taking the blue pill, however, almost scoffs at the idea of a false world. Indeed, it is this inability to tell the difference between the real world and imagination that truly puts one in danger.

Whatever pill you choose, we’re sure to be in for a treat when The Matrix Resurrections releases in December. Despite the lackluster reception of The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, fans have been excited at the prospect of another major Matrix film. Even more shocking was the revelation that Keanu Reeves would be reprising his role as Neo and Carrie Anne-Moss as Trinity. Without getting into spoilers, the title and several scenes shown hit at major plot points. But, if The Matrix Resurrections is like its predecessors, then not everything is as it appears. Stay tuned to The Nerd Stash for the full trailer on Thursday!
