Coming off the heels of a photo leak and Rob Zombie confirming the release of a trailer, the world finally got to see The Munsters trailer. The footage shows his take on the ghoulish family with a vibrant twist that brings the classic characters into color and to modern audiences.

Driving down to 1313 Mockingbird Lane, the film will follow the early days of Herman Munster (Jeff Daniel Philips) and Lily Munster’s (Sheri Moon Zombie) relationship. That romance between the spooky characters with its family-friendly tone makes this the biggest departure the musician and filmmaker has made in his filmography after decades of gruesome horror films like House of 1,000 Corpses, his take on Halloween, and The Devil’s Rejects.

Meet The Munsters in the Trailer from Director Rob Zombie

Joining the two will be Lily’s disapproving father, Grandpa, aka The Count (Dan Roebuck). The Munsters trailer focuses on the three main stars, but also starring in the film will be Cassandra Peterson as real estate agent Barbara Carr, Tomas Boykin as Lester the Werewolf, Richard Brake as Dr. Henry Augustus Wolfgang, Jorge Garcia as Floop, Sylvester McCoy as Igor, Catherine Schell as Zoya Krupp, Dee Wallace as the voice of “Good Morning Transylvania,” Jeremy Wheeler as Mr. Gateman. Making appearances will be original stars Pat Priest and Butch Patrick.

Every shot in The Munsters trailer shows how Rob Zombie was willing to go in the opposite direction of his initial vision to go black and white, knowing studios may not back him. Instead, his first PG movie dedicates itself to having nonstop flashes of color from the sets to lights to costumes.

Rob Zombie will direct, write, and produce the film. Mike Elliot, Jonathan Halperyn, Daniel Kresmery, Abbey Lessanu, and Gary Oldroyd will produce too.

While the film is done and we got The Munsters trailer, no release date has been set. The film is slated to hit theaters this September, but nothing has been confirmed.
