Wheel of Fortune’s host, Vanna White, is unhappy about saying bye to the show with her co-host, Pat Sajak. The show kicked off in 1975 with Chuck Woolery and Susan Stafford.

Sajak and White took over as the show’s hosts in 1982 and have been running “Wheel of Fortune” since then. White pointed out that Merv Griffin saw something that influenced his decision to select her and Sajak.

She disclosed to PEOPLE that Griffin saw a brother-sister type of relationship between them. He saw that the duo would be able to get along, and it helped them handle the show for about 40 years.

After spending decades on the Wheel of Fortune, Vanna White is unhappy to say bye, as her and Pat Sajak’s time on the show draws to an end. 76-year-old Sajak disclosed in September 2021 that he and his co-host are “closer to the end than the beginning” of hosting the game show.

‘Wheel of Fortune’s Vanna White Has a Harder Time Saying Bye Than Pat Sajak

Although Variety already reported that Vanna White and Pat Sajak renewed their contracts through the 2023-2024 ABC television series, it’s unclear when they will exit finally.

White disclosed to PEOPLE that she doesn’t want to think about leaving the show because it’s depressing. She further stated that it’s kind of difficult to picture what the “Wheel of Fortune” show will look like without Sajak and herself.

Imagining someone else hosting the show is something White has never really thought of. According to her, she visualizes her and Sajak being there, and she can’t think beyond that. The 65-year-old star also noted that she’s unsure if the show will continue without her and Sajak.

Leaving Wheels of Fortune is Weird For Her

As if being unhappy about leaving “Wheels of Fortune” isn’t enough, Vanna White revealed that after 40 years, it’ll be weird to have someone else turn her and Pat Sajak’s letters. But in all of these, she’s grateful for hosting the show for the past four decades.

She admitted that she loved every minute as a host of the show because it’s a great job, and everyone enjoys it. The show also changes people’s lives and makes everybody happy.
