A Wonder Twins movie is in development for HBO Max. The Hollywood Reporter says that Warner Bros. has hired Black Adam writer Adam Sztykiel to write and direct this live-action adaptation of the DC comics characters. The movie, which will be titled Wonder Twins, will be produced by Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey of Temple Hill Entertainment, the production company behind The Twilight Saga, Maze Runner, The Fault in Our Stars, and Love, Simon. Deadline reports that along with writing the upcoming Black Adam movie, Sztykiel has also written other Warner Bros. films, including Due Date, Rampage, Scoob!, and the upcoming We’re the Millers 2.

Details of the movie’s plot have not been revealed, but it’s more than likely going to follow the basis of the Wonder Twins story. The story follows alien siblings Zan and Jayna, who were first introduced to the DC world in the 1970s in Hanna-Barbera’s cartoon series The All-New Super Friends Hour. They are most known for their transformation abilities, which go into effect when they connect hands and utter the catchphrase, “Wonder Twin power, activate!” Jayna would then say “Form of…” followed by the name of the animal she would turn into. Zan would follow up with “Shape of…” and then transform into any state of water (solid, gas, or liquid). The twins’ corniness has often made them the butt of jokes and memes. However, modern attempts have been made to make the characters be taken more seriously, such as when they appeared in the Arrowverse in 2020. They also appeared in DC’s Wonder Comics alongside younger DC characters such as those from Young Justice.

Wonder Twins will be released on HBO Max, although a planned release date or year has not been announced.
